Purpose and Symbology
of the Riven
The Tree
The Tree Of Life
and the family tree are uprooted in the middle of the crest. This represents a pulling away or seperation from the 'normalcy'
and socially accepted patterns which are sanctioned as the 'American Way'.
This also represents
a desire to begin anew. To start a new generational legacy of service, honor, and success.
It means "disinherited",
and despite the fact that this word has an inherent negative connotation, in the Riven symbology, it carries a significant
positive and dignified conotation. It is like saying to the world, "I have trancended and ascended above the requirements
and priviledges of society, and I am no longer living like a sheep."
For the Riven;
the pleasures, falsity, and culture of the world are beneath the mindset and spiritual vivacity of what the Riven individual
is focused on. In essence, the uprooted tree states, "I don't want or need your cheap inheritance." This is the basic and
most relevant meaning of the uprooted tree.
The Flame of
the Phoenix
The flame of
the phoenix over the entire crest represents the purifying fire of the Spirit of Truth, and also the flame of knowledge.
Truth and knowledge work hand in hand to bring the Riven into a higher mental awareness than he originally was. the Flame
is the flame of the phoenix, which represents the eternal aspect of Truth and the reoccurence of gaining knowledge. Essentially,
the Riven individual is never finished growing mentally or spiritually.
The Riven seeks
complete-ness in the purging of cheapness and falsity by engaging in the pursuit of knowledge and Spirit.
The symbol behind the tree means
'firstborn'. This is representative of a new begining, no more burden from 'the ancestors' or any family generational legacy.
the Riven is the firstborn, maybe
not physically, but essentially. The idea is to begin with a new mentality that allows growth and defies stagnancy.
Anyone who agress with this philosophy
can use this crest and personalize it.
